Laura is a huge lover of animals of all shapes and sizes and spent most of her time when growing up on the family farm looking after the many horses, sheep and dogs that they owned. Her first love was horses and from the age of 9 to 14 took part in local show jumping competitions with different ponies.
Laura also used to spend a lot of time with the dogs that were on the farm and taught some of the sheepdogs to jump the showjumps and enjoyed going on long walks. As she grew up, she had two children - Tyler, now 15 and Daniel, now 9, and 4 years ago decided it was time a dog joined her little family. Zak became a part of the family in November 2014. Zak is an English Springer Spaniel born in June 2014. Laura and Zak quickly formed a close bond, and Zak was soon performing tricks such as 'high five' 'hands-up' and 'roll-over'. It was inevitable that Laura was soon to get Zak involved with the horses and Zak was soon riding on the back of one of Laura's ponies, Rocky! Her videos on social media were seen by a news agency and Laura, Zak and Rocky appeared in a national newspaper.
It was through her love of dogs that Laura and Paul met. They spent a lot of time together with their dogs and after heath issues stopped her from keeping up her first passion - horse riding - she decided that she would like to spend more time with dogs and help people to train their dog and make owning a dog a more enjoyable time for those that sometimes struggle. Laura is also a committee member for the Mid Wales Gundog Society and helps Paul arrange field trials for the club. She enjoys training her own dogs and now has 2 Labradors and another ESS.
Laura and Paul now take most lessons and classes together, and Laura is available for private lessons if you'd prefer. She will also soon be starting agility classes for dogs and owners of all ages, and young handler classes for the younger dog lover from 5 to 15 years of age.
Merebrow Gundogs are trying to get involved with the Children's University so your child can gain university points in their passports, and also encourage children to learn the facts about owning a dog and how to be a responsible dog owner.
If you'd like to know more on the classes that Laura is running then please get in touch for more information.
