A great start to the shooting and trialling season saw Boundary Moor Lily of Mere Brow win a novice trial with Mid Wales. We're really pleased with Lily as she also picked up a Certificate of Merit in her second open trial with Kintbury Working Gundog Club.
Wilswin Wilson of Mere Brow was placed second in a novice trial with Mid Wales. We're pleased with Wilson as this was his first ever trial and he was just brilliant.
Our best and most enjoyable season to date.
We're thrilled to unveil our new logo and refreshed brand identity. We felt the time was right to create a fresh image to reflect the current achievements of Mere Brow Gundogs and to launch the new MBG clothing range and gun dog training products available through our website. We hope you like it.
…but what the heck! It's been wonderful to see our young handlers building on their personal skills such as patience, persistence and assertiveness through gundog handling. Young handlers are the future and the field trial championship winners of tomorrow. They need to be nurtured and encouraged to take up the sport and enjoy all aspects of training and competition.
It has been a real pleasure watching our young handlers confidently directing their spaniel or Labrador onto a tricky retrieve in dense cover.
At Mere Brow Gundogs we passionately believe in the power of the relationship between a child and a dog. We appreciate the importance of developing the skills of both handlers and dogs at a young age.
Moving into 2016, we intend to run regular classes for young handlers of all ages and abilities. Dedicated training days will be held in the school holidays where young handlers can practice their skills over a variety of terrains in different locations from those used in normal training sessions. They will be given the opportunity to hone their skills on cold game. We will cover whistle commands, hand signals and working test and trials etiquette. Our emphasis is on having fun and we are looking to arrange a young handler working test later this year.
Our prices have not increased since 2012 and we have held them as long as possible. From 1 January 2018 our fees will increase to:
All dogs will be assessed prior to any training taking place.
