Mere Brow Gundogs perform displays at a number of fairs and country shows around the UK each year. We use our dogs to introduce the audience to the process involved in training a gundog and the different tasks performed by dogs working in the field.
When we are not in the arena we can be found in our mobile stand, where visitors can find out more about training, meet the dogs and purchase dog training equipment and other accessories from the shop. Paul will be on hand to discuss any training issues you might have, not just for gundogs but any breed.
Our gundog demonstrations are performed to give the audience an overview of the process of training a dog for working or competition, starting with the young pups and working through the development stages to the mature, experienced dogs. We aim to show the audience that training of the working dogs is done through play and enjoyment, resulting in dogs that love to work for us.
Come and see us at one of our shows this year.
We start with our youngest dogs, demonstrating how they are no different to any other puppy that needs to play and have fun, but at the same time learn basic skills such as recall.
We then move on to the older pups that are starting to learn more commands and to understand the basic requirements such as stopping and retrieving.
Finally we introduce the older, experienced dogs and show how the basic skills that they have learnt as pups allow us to direct and control the dogs in order to perform precise tasks such as retrieving hidden items.
We are available to visit schools or events organised for children with our team of dogs to give displays, providing a hands-on experience in looking after and training a dog.
